News Rating: 3.5 out of 5 Impatience is working both for and against Amanda Kravat's burgeoning solo career. The former lead singer of the New York-based band Marry Me Jane reportedly has a traditional studio album in the works. Yet for those who can't wait, there's "Wrong All Day'' - a collection of demos plus songs Kravat has recorded for past and future film soundtracks. The impetus behind "Wrong All Day'' is the song "Green (You Can't Touch Me),'' which Kravat cut for the independent film "Fall.'' The song's magical brew of piano-based starkness and simmering emotional intensity prompted fans to download it off the "Fall'' video and share it via the Internet. Obviously Kravat needed to capitalize on the unconventional and sudden interest, so she made "Wrong All Day'' available on her Web site and then amazon.com. The disc foreshadows a potentially brilliant future for Kravat, who often brings to mind the vocals and music stylings of Sheryl Crow. Beyond "Green,'' "Wrong All Day'' offers a jangly "Beautifully Complicated,'' an "I Don't Wanna Be Your Girlfriend'' that pits sensuously whispered verses against shouted choruses. Several other cuts are anchored to an earthy pop/rock sound, but "Wrong All Day'' is a work in progress, and Kravat isn't well served by releasing tracks that sorely need polishing. Ultimately, "Wrong All Day'' is a premature release from a woman who appears to be on her way to something great. -back- Disclaimer: All rights reserved to their respective parties.
